Head lice treatment for children

Head lice are parasites that feed on human blood in small quantities which is extracted from the scalp. Head lice are the only parasite that lives on the human head. So if you spot any insect which is as small as sesame seed and is dark brown in color in your child's head then you can be sure that your child has lice. The eggs that they lay are called nits and are even more difficult to spot. You could sometimes be mistaken for dandruff. There are many ways to distinguish, take a comb and brush you hair if it comes of then it is dandruff but if it doesn't come off then you can be sure that they are nits.

Head lice are parasites usually found in the head of a person and a common problem faced amongst school kids. If your child has head lice then it is time for you to take action and act upon it as soon as you can. It is necessary you take care that your child doesn't have close contact with a person who has lice because head lice can easily spread if there is any close physical contact between the person having lice especially school children who are highly prone to lice. Head lice cause a lot of irritation in the head and frequent scratching which sometimes might cause red spots or bumps in your head on your neck and shoulder.

Removing head lice can be a real task though there are many ways to get rid of them, few of them being applying the medicated oils and shampoos like mediker which is well known for the treatment of head lice, there are lice combs with the help of which lice can be removed. This can be very time consuming since it is necessary that you go through each and every strand of your hair. The lice shampoos that you use don't continuously kill the nits after using the shampoo you have to use the comb and pluck the out which can be painful at times. One of the other ways of getting rid of the lice is tweezers you can use them to remove head lice as well as nits. The eggs laid(nits) by lice hatch within a period of7-14 days so it takes no time for the lice to multiply and before you realize you will have a whole lot of them in your head so you need to act fast to get rid of them from your child's head. Make sure that you child has short hair till you get rid of all the lice. Never exchange combs and make sure that you wash your child's comb with very hot water

If at all your child has lice then there are a few precautions that you must take so that it doesn't pass on to someone else from the family. Make sure that you wash the pillow covers, bed sheets and carpets with hot water for atleast 20minutes. Lice cannot withstand high temperatures.
